The Client:
The Dorchester Hotel opened in 1931 through the vision of Sir Robert McAlpine. From Royal banquets, to Foyles Literary Luncheons and charity balls, this iconic hotel has remained integral to the London hospitality scene.
The Brief:
Daedalian Glass Studios worked in collaboration with Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and Beck Interiors to create an eye-catching decorative bar front for The Vesper Bar, inspired by the sophistication and spirit of the roaring thirties.
Daedalian created a series of flat and curved kiln formed, laminated panels for this prestigious project.
To begin the process, several moulds were created in the desired size and organic wave pattern, then placed in the kiln where the glass could slump into shape. A combination of striking oranges and yellows were then added to the design creating a warm, inviting glow to the panels. Finally the colourful kiln forming was laminated to another piece of toughened glass creating a safety glass, perfect for use as a bar front!
