The Client:
The Gleneagles Hotel is a 5* resort in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The original Category B Listed hotel building opened in 1924 and the resort has been owned by private investment company, Ennismore since 2015.
Among other accolades, Gleneagles has been voted the Best Golf Resort in the World for the past seven consecutive years (2012 - 2018) by the Daily Telegraph and Ultratravel Magazine’s ULTRAs Awards.
The Brief:
Gleneagles’ Birnam Brasserie offers a casual dining experience in a French-American brasserie and was opened in 2017.
The décor is inspired by the grand Parisian cafes of the early twentieth century and Daedalian Glass Studios were commissioned to manufacture a range of glass features for the interior.
The main body of this project required the creation of hand-silvered antique mirror panels. These are a main design feature of the restaurant walls and flood the space with reflected natural light. Daedalian Glass Studios also supplied various other glass features including dining counter unit frames, dining counter unit shelves, host station side panels, waiter station unit shelves, and various partition screens.
This project was taken on with just a six week lead time for Daedalian Glass Studios to manufacture 198 hand-silvered antique mirrors and 73 other panels of various design.
