The Client:
The Salthouse Harbour Hotel sits on the waterfront of the historic Ipswich Dockside – an area that has been used for trade since at least the 8th Century.
This contemporary styled converted warehouse building showcases a mix of art, designer furniture, glasswork, and exposed sections of the original brick.
The Brief:
Daedalian Glass Studios were given the brief of creating a glass installation to sit around the lift shaft, creating a feature in keeping with the styling of the hotel.
Davia Walmsley of Daedalian Glass Studios took inspiration for this project whilst visiting the Pacific North-West of the United States. These glass tiles were etched to add varied textures and then painted in colours emotive of dilapidated fishing huts where foliage and rust are taking root.
