The Client:
Located in Heald Green, Christ Church is south-west of Manchester, England a few miles from the Golden Triangle. The Church was built in 1963 by Architects Reynolds & Scott.
The Brief:
Daedalian were commissioned to design, manufacture and install a Baptismal Font into the Christ Church alter.
Daedalian Glass Studios created a contemporary Baptismal Font for the client. The shape is designed to appear as a shell and has been transformed by iridised colours.
The font is made up of 7 layers of glass; clear, black and iridised where the layers were then fused together. Once fused, the glass was slumped into the mould in the kiln (see photos).
Finally the font was polished to ensure a smooth texture and high quality finish.
