The Client:
35 King Street is a commercial property asset of Capital & Counties Properties PLC (Capco).
The refurbishment of this six floor, mixed-use building provided 20'000 sq.ft of Category A office space and 9'000 sq.ft of white box retail space on the ground floor.
The Brief:
This office floors in this project were refurbished in an industrial design with exposed existing steel frame, concrete structure, and services.
To compliment this industrial fit-out, Daedalian Glass Studios were commissioned to manufacture 424 reeded glass panels, across all six floors. These were manufactured to a variety and sizes and shapes, designed to sit within metal frameworks created by Newton Forge.
To create a safety glass suitable for use within public spaces, 4mm reeded glass was laminated to 4mm float glass. Additionally, a double layer of white EVA was used at the bonding agent. This lowered the transparency and provided an element of privacy to those on either side of the glass.
