Daedalian Glass Studios’ involvement with The Lanesborough Hotel started with contact made by Reardon Smith Architects London, in regards to their need for unique broad reeded antique silvered glass in the Hotel’s Belgravia Room. This lead to the studio developing the whole glass scheme to the approval of Alberto Pinto Interior Design, Paris and close liaison with Beck Interiors, the main contractor. Below is a summary of the work that was completed by the team here at Daedalian Glass Studios.
The Belgravia Room: A set of five glass pelmets to the external windows featuring complex shaped bevelled and brilliant cut low iron glass, antique silvered. A set of 22 Ionic pilasters featuring 30mmm wide reeded glass to the lower sections.
The capitals have classical ionic shapes with brilliant cut egg and dart sections, topped with 30mm and 40mm thick cast glass sections. All in low iron glass and antique silvered. At the bottom is a glass skirting featuring 40mm diameter semi-circular glass sections, all optically polished and antique silvered. Finally two air conditioning cabinets all antique silvered mirror in a complimentary style. All the antique silvered glass is fixed with mirror screws capped with hand-made lead crystal rosettes.
Celeste Restaurant Wine Store: Wine store glazed panels. In the restaurant Alberto Pinto Interior Design provided the design brief from which we originated a design for multi-depth sandblasting onto low iron glass. The panels were made into double glazed units with the inner pane being switchable glass creating privacy when required. Photographs of these screens will soon follow.
Celeste Restaurant Seating Screens: These screens are also sandblasted and based on the wine store design with the introduction of a central harp motif. The sandblasting varies in depth creating a multi-tonal effect. For more images of The Lanesborough, check out the gallery on the hotel’s website where you can see some of the work we completed.
