Next week sees the return of one of the world’s most influential interior design events – London Design Week 2018.
The programme for the week is made up of more than 100 events offering opportunities to see skilled artisans at work, speak to renowned designers about their inspirations and to take a sneak peek at the latest trends and future directions in interior design.
One of the main highlights of the week is the ‘Conversations in Design’ keynote speeches and panel discussions featuring luminaries like Kit Kemp MBE (Firmdale Hotels), Sophie Elborne (Kitesgrove), Mike Stiff (Stiff + Trevillion), Jo leGleud (Maddux Creative), Martin Hulbert and Jay Grierson (Martin Hulbert Design).
At Daedalian Glass Studios, we’re particularly looking forward to ‘Rooms Of Our Own’ at 11.30am on Tuesday 6th March, where Sopie Ashby (Studio Ashby), Hubert Zandberg (Hubert Zandberg Interiors) and Susie Atkinson (Studio Atkinson) will reflect on the changing face of interior design. Given some of the luxurious residential interior projects they’ve completed collectively they’re sure to have some fascinating insights to share.
An exciting new initiative for this year is ‘Legends’ a series of showroom windows and showcases featuring imaginative collaborations, including designer Gesa Hansen, bringing a modern Scandinavian look to Villeroy & Boch; Hill House Interiors with Bella Figura; Maddux Creative with Tim Page Carpets and Neisha Crosland with Artisans of Devizes.
This really appeals as we’re very collaborative in our approach, with one recent example being this Crystal Corinthian column capital – part of a series created by Daedalian Glass Studios to line the subterranean swimming pool at luxurious private residence in Highgate, London. This project was completed in collaboration with Gardiner and Theobold, Owen Architects, and Scott + Twine Architects.
As always, it’s not just about the speakers and exhibitors but the people you meet during the week. The event is a fantastic hub for co-creation, collaboration and increasing your network.
London Design Week runs from 4th – 9th March 2018 at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour. To find out more about this event, visit www.dcch.co.uk or follow @designcentrech on Twitter.
